Constant Pressure or Diesel Cycle

This cycle was conceived abd developed by Dr. Rudolph Diesel in 1897.It differs from otto cycle , in , that heat is supplied at constant pressure instead of constant volume.

This cycle consist of following operations:

Cutoff ratio=v3/v2

The low speed diesel engines work on a cycle which is slight modification of the diesel cycle. This thermodynamic cycle is called constant pressure cycle because heat is supplied to the air at constant pressure.
